I wish I could say that I’ve been baking my whole life with recipes that have been passed down through generations, but that’s just not true. I fell in love with baking in my 20s after getting my hands on “Martha Stewart’s Baking Handbook”. To say I was obsessed may be an understatement. I spent the next few years baking weekly for a baking blog and entering in cupcake competitions and submitting entries into the baking competitions at the Ohio State Fair. My fair entries won me 15 ribbons, five of them blue, including a blue ribbon for my chocolate chip cookies!

My name is Danae. I’m the one-woman operation running Willowheart Bakeshop from my home kitchen.
While I have slowed down on the competition side of baking, I have not lost my passion for it. Coming up with new flavors and ideas fuels my creative spirit. I love the idea of turning simple ingredients like sugar, butter, and flour into delicious and beautiful treats to share, and I can’t wait to share them with you!
Every sweet treat I make is made from scratch, baked with love, and most likely infused with a little bit of Taylor Swift while I sing and dance around the kitchen.
